By the grace of God, a vision to establish another college in Jowai town was conceived by the K.J.P. Synod members and through their wisdom a College was formed. And after convening many meetings they came to a conclusion that a college is to be named in remembrance of Late Rev. Thomas Jones I. Rev. Thomas Jones was a Welsh Christian Missionary and also was the founding father of the Khasi Alphabet. The College Motto was “Tip Bru Tip Blai” and in the year 2018 changed to “Tip Briew Tip Blei”.

With the effort and initiative of the former Principal Elder B. N. Lamare along with the members, the Additional Director of Public Instruction Meghalaya, Shillong on the 5th of April 1997 has permitted to open a newly college in Jowai town. A special meeting was held at Ing Bangla, Mission Compound, Jowai to start the College with the Evening Shift in 2 (two) classes i.e. Class XI (Arts) and B.A. General Course on the 26th of June 1997 and eventually the Day Shift was commence on the 5th August 2000 and Affiliated to North Eastern Hill University under the Section 2(f) of UGC Act 1956.

The College then added the Commerce stream on the 14th may 2008 and Science stream on 2021 which is also affiliated to NEHU.
