The Department of Botany was established in 2021 with the aim to promote academic excellence and contribute to the understanding of the subject. The Department also aims to sensitize students towards the importance of plant sciences and their role in society. The Department is equipped with its own Laboratory enabling students to perform the experiments. The Department also organizes field trips for students as part of their curriculum. The department is affiliated with the North-Eastern Hill University in 2023. Additionally, the faculty of the Department took part in imparting knowledge to non-science students through Multi-Disciplinary Courses (MDC) as part of the FYUP of the New Education Policy (2020).
A degree in Botany can lead to many career opportunities, including research, teaching, conservation, agriculture, and horticulture. Students with a major in Botany can work in a variety of settings, such as universities, government agencies, botanical gardens, and private companies.

The Botany Department of the College has a laboratory providing a space for our students to involve in a hands-on learning process where they can perform experiments related to plants and their biology.
Equipment: The Botany laboratory is equipped with the necessary tools and equipment for conducting experiments such as compound microscopes, dissecting microscopes, binocular microscope, weighing balance, oven, centrifugation machine, digital pH metre, desiccator, visual charts, permanent slides, classwork specimens and bottled specimens.
Safety: Students are trained on laboratory safety procedures and followed them at all times.
Lab Reports: Students are often required to write lab reports to document their experiments and findings. These reports followed a specific format and include details such as the purpose of the experiment, the methods used, the results obtained, and the conclusions drawn.
All the practical experiments and examination are being conducted in the lab under the guidance of qualified teachers. The department has one qualified lab assistant who looks at the maintenance of the laboratory and making necessary arrangements for laboratory practical.
