The Department of Commerce, Thomas Jones Synod College was introduced in the year 2008. The department was affiliated in 2017. Currently the department has five faculty members.
The department was blessed with a team of dedicated, sincere and supportive faculties along with many hardworking students. All faculties are millennials which enable the department to integrate modern technology with the traditional way of teaching. The department offers a number of academic resources for students’ excellence by way of qualified faculty, adequate infrastructure, library and E-Resource like News Papers, Journals, N-List, E-Books, E-Journals, INFLIBNET; etc. Further, to provide holistic support for the overall development of the learners, the department conducts various departmental activities such as mentoring, remedial classes, extra classes, counseling and exposure trips from time to time.
To ensure quality in teaching-learning process and effective curriculum delivery, the faculties of the department conduct important academic activities like presentation, seminar, group discussion, online quiz and other enriching sessions. Such tasks are designed to develop the communication and comprehension skills of the students.
In addition to the above, the Add-On-Course on Tally Prime is offered to meet the emerging needs for computer based skill jobs in the field of industries, business houses, firms, factories, banks and Government offices and also to enable students to manage the accounts of their own enterprises.

Special Online Lecture on Corporate Social Responsibility During Pandemic. The Objective of this lecture was to spread awareness on the concept of CSR and the responsibility of the corporate sector to contribute something to the society primarily during the onset of the Covid-19 virus in India especially in the second wave where millions of people have been infected and thousands of lives were lost during this pandemic. |
Educational Tour. The objective of the tour is to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts with real life exposure of the same. The tour provides opportunities for students to witness and learn the daily entrepreneurial operation from the grass root level to imbibe them with entrepreneurial spirit. |
Students’ Mentoring Session To Access Online Educational Open Sources. Students were guided to access into several platforms of educational open sources available in the library like NLIST, PDFDRIVE, Z-lib, Libgen and also mentored them to access into some paid sources like e-newspaper (Business Standard), journals and NLIST. They were also guided to enroll, access and explore the Swayam portal for their own benefit. Objectives i. To improve students 'learning through digital platform of open sources. ii. To ensure that students make use of paid sources like e-newspaper (Business Standard), journals and NLIST. iii. To make student aware of the available opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge digitally. iv. To ensure that students know the procedures of enrollment on courses offered on SWAYAM portal. |
Department Farewell Programme, 2023. The programme was organized by the present students as a symbol of showing love and appreciation to their out-going seniors for their successful journey.It was a colourful day bloomed by a beautiful- Pnar traditional dance and some entertainments likes, sweet melody songs, group dance and a joyful game. Mementos were presented to all the out- going students as a memoring gift. |
